The knowledge you acquire is not just academic; it translates into real-life experiences that can significantly benefit your family and community.

In 2023, I proudly earned my National Certificate in Age Community Care - Level 3. This achievement has opened new doors for me, including the opportunity to step into the role of Acting Age Care Coordinator under the guidance of Dr. Ema Puloka Luey. Currently, I am furthering my education by enrolling in the Teaching Level 5 course to enhance my skills and effectiveness in this role.

One of my most cherished experiences at Tupou Tertiary Institute (TTI) is the Monday morning form assembly. This event is uniquely organized by the various school departments, highlighting the collaborative spirit that defines our institution. Each assembly is meticulously planned, offering a platform for students to interact with both faculty and fellow peers. The sense of community cultivated during these assemblies significantly enriches the overall experience at TTI. Additionally, TTI provides an excellent opportunity to meet fascinating individuals and forge friendships that I believe will endure for a lifetime.

My favourite place on campus is undoubtedly the Age Care practical room. This facility is equipped with all the necessary resources that facilitate effective learning in our field. The hands-on experience provided in this room is invaluable, allowing us to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios. It creates an environment where we can develop essential skills that are crucial for our future careers in age care.

During my time at TTI, I have greatly admired all my instructors. Their steadfast commitment to their students has served as a profound source of inspiration for me. They not only share their knowledge but also exhibit a dedication to our success that encourages us to pursue excellence. I aspire to have a similar positive impact on my students’ lives, just as they have had on mine.

TTI has been instrumental in preparing me for a career in aged care. This newly launched program focused on aged care that prioritizes practical, hands on skills alongside theoretical understanding. This educational approach has provided me with the essential tools needed to thrive in my profession and deliver high-quality care to those in need.

To other students considering a path in age care, I would advise you to embrace the experiences and skills gained through your studies. The knowledge you acquire is not just academic; it translates into real-life experiences that can significantly benefit your family and community.

"Working in this field fosters selflessness as you learn to prioritize the needs of your clients. Importantly, this profession is accessible to anyone willing to learn, and there are great opportunities available after graduation, including potential work overseas that can help support your family."
