Time Management
Time Management is a skill which helps students to allocate time wisely and smartly to their studies. At tertiary level most students will find the workload very demanding. There is research to conduct, assignments to complete, presentations to do and deadlines to meet – the tasks are endless!
How do I avoid late assignments and all-night cramming for tests/exams?
Simple. You need Time Management. This will help you complete assignments on time and even have time to relax.
Where do I begin?
Time Management involves planning, prioritizing, timetabling and committing. You can start by following these steps:
Planning
Make a plan of all your tasks. Set your goals and tasks which need to be accomplished according to assignment due dates and tests/exam dates given in course outlines.
Prioritizing
Arrange goals and tasks in order. The most pressing and immediate ones should be your first priority.
Timetabling
Set up a daily or weekly timetable to follow. Decide on amount of time to spend on each task. It is also equally important to set time aside for leisure.
Committing
Managing your time wisely requires you to keep to your timetable as best as you can. This requires an enormous amount of self-discipline and persistence.
